
Conscious and Living Education emerges, in a systematized way, from the experiences Ivana Jauregui lived from a very young age already at the school her mother, Angela Gini, had in Uruguay.
She became aware of the influence that the emotional states of adults have on a child when she started taking care of her younger brother.
She then began to notice how easy it was, for example, to put him to sleep when she herself was calm and relaxed. And how much the opposite was also true.
In the relationship with her older son, these perceptions took shape, and the impetus arose to uncover a form of education that would encompass this knowledge about the relationship between adults and children, and also the adult's relationship with himself.
But what do you mean "the adult's relationship with himself"?
Well, if an adult knows that his internal state affects a child's sleep, he can broaden this awareness and apply it to many other moments.
This self-observation is the basis of the adult's experience in Conscious and Living Education. It is by observing ourselves, becoming aware of ourselves, that we are able to interact with children in a way that brings less interference from us to this relationship. This is the "Conscious" side of Conscious and Living Education.
It was in the community where she lived in Bahia that Ivana had the opportunity to systematize this proposal for Education while she was funding and working at the Inkiri School in the 2010s.
There she also started to spread the dissemination of Conscious and Living Education to other people through trainings and meetings with the theme Free Education, and later Living Education.
The 1st meeting of Free Education takes place there in Bahia in the beginning of the decade. A week of trainings, conversations and observation. At that moment many Argentinean communities were present.
A Network was being formed. A Network that today includes educators and schools in 4 different countries. A Network that proposes to work for the experience and propagation of Conscious and Living Education.
Meetings of this Network started to happen in a more systematic way.
In 2014 and 2015, meetings took place in Argentina Centro-Norte and Patagonia. Many talks and visits to spaces.
2016 was Uruguay's turn, La Paloma. We went back to our origins. It was very good after the meetings, to have an encounter at the Escuela Viva del Bosque, where Ivana was at the time. A lot of observation, a lot of exchange, and a lot of warmth.
In 2018, the meeting of the schools of the Network of Conscious and Living Education takes place in Guaporé, in the Serra Gaúcha.
Meetings around the three Conscious and Living Education schools running in the state of Rio de Janeiro will take place in 2019. 2020 would have been the year of meetings at the schools of Bahia, but the coronavirus pandemic has made this impossible.
And, although the pandemic prevented us from meeting in 2020, it was also in this year that a series of online talks with the Network participants and other guests had space to take place. Thus was born the YouTube channel of the Network for Conscious Living Education, as well as our website.
2020 also brought us the opportunity to systematize our vision of education without transforming it into rigid structures. We intended to systematize it so that our message could reach many other interested people, but without losing the "Living" element, as in prone to grow and change, inherent in this vision.
After all, it is a Living Education because, besides being at the service of Life, it also proposes a constant updating of our actions, always trying to meet the demands of children at every moment, therefore changing continuously, as is inherent to everything that is alive.
